In Rock Creek Canyon, beauty, wonder, and magic are all around you. As the creek rushes by your cabin, as the birds sing on your doorstep, as your child proudly reels in a rainbow trout. It is an experience cherished by generations of families. A chance to gaze at the night sky, or watch the rosy fingers of dawn grace the mountain peaks. To scramble to the highest vistas, or just lounge by the lake wth a good book and a fishing rod. It is life as it once was, and at Rock Creek Lodge, it is life as it will always be. Many things have changed over the last hundred years, but Rock Creek Canyon remains the same. Over
the past several years, local owner Bobby Tanner has made some much needed
improvements and remodels to the existing cabins, including a beautiful new
diningroom, and four new "modern" cabins. Breakfast is served in the summer from 8 to
10 am. Unfortunately we will not
be serving dinner this summer. For the fisherman, Rock Creek Canyon is well known
for its numerous easily accessible lakes and streams, with Brown, Rainbow,
and Golden Trout to be found. For the adventurous hikers, backpackers, and
climbers out there, Rock Creek Lodge presents a wonderful basecamp for trips
into the Little Lakes Valley. Located at 9,373 feet, it is a great place to
spend a night to acclimatize before a big trip or peak attempt. But beware, reservations
must be made far in advance, as the
summer season tends to book up months ahead of time. |
